Professor Arnaud Martin is the founder in 2009 of the Belief Functions and Applications Society BFAS and organizer of the first international event of BFAS on the theory of belief functions in 2010. Since 2009 until 2012 he was the first president of BFAS, and since 2012 until 2017 he was the treasurer and presented a positive balance. He strongly encourages scholarships for young researchers. In order to develop more and more the theory of belief functions and grow up the community around the world, he supports the organization of future Belief conferences and Belief schools in the best potential places.
He received a HDR (French ability to supervised research) in computer sciences (2009), a PhD degree in Signal Processing (2001), and Master in Probability (1998) from the university of Rennes, France. In 2010, he joined the laboratory IRISA UMR 6074 at the university of Rennes 1 as full professor and create the team DRUID in 2012. Pr. Arnaud Martin teaches data fusion, data mining and computer sciences. His research interests are mainly related to the belief functions for the classification and include data fusion, data mining. He is author of numerous papers and invited talks.
